The city of Regina is the capital city of the Province of Saskatchewan and following Saskatoon, it is the second biggest. The city is a major economic center for the regions it surrounds, consisting of the rest of southern Saskatchewan and the nearby American states of North Dakota and Montana. Regina was established during 1882 and became famous during the North-West Rebellion period, when troops were brought by train before they marched to the battlefield. Moreover, the rebellion's leader named Louie Riel was hanged in Regina. Regina was incorporated as a city on June 19, 1903 and was declared by the first provincial government as the capital of the Saskatchewan province.
